Wine, fine dining and snow draw more Brazilians to Mendoza’s luxury mountain experience

At a top Mendoza winery, visitors with wine glasses in hand kept leaving their tables to photograph the snow-covered Andes. Many were Brazilians, drawn not only by the mountains and winter sports, but also by the province’s high-end food and wine experiences.

The scene reflects a revival in Mendoza’s international tourism. Official figures reviewed by La Nación show that the province received 7% more international visitors in the first half of 2026, while Brazilian arrivals grew by almost 10%. The strongest support has come from the luxury segment, which has kept the business moving as visits recover.

Foreign visitors are choosing guided winery tours, long lunches, cultural activities and excursions through the city and the province. Mountain trips remain a major attraction, including skiing in the south at Las Leñas in Malargüe, or at the high-altitude winter centers on the route to Chile, such as Los Penitentes and Los Puquios.

A day at these destinations starts at about $100 per person on average, often including lunch and a guided winery visit. Foreign weddings, birthdays and other special events also contribute, with wineries sometimes closing for groups averaging 150 people.

At Alfa Crux winery in the Uco Valley, André, a visitor from São Paulo, praised Mendoza in a mixture of Portuguese and Spanish: “Mendoza is beautiful, with its wineries and restaurants. It is very pleasant to be here.” He and his wife toured the winery and ate at Crux Cocina, a restaurant suspended over an artificial lake. The visit also included the winery’s large underground cellar, where sunlight projects a cross onto the floor.
