Winnipeg man arrested after waving replica gun from sunroof on highway

A Winnipeg man faces multiple charges after allegedly waving a replica handgun from his vehicle's sunroof on the Trans-Canada Highway. Manitoba RCMP reported the incident occurred Tuesday around 11:50 a.m. when they received a call about an erratic driver east of Portage la Prairie.

Police located the 25-year-old driver about 20 minutes later near the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 16. He was arrested without incident. Following the arrest, officers seized an airsoft replica BB gun from the vehicle.

The man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in September. He faces charges including two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of pointing a firearm, and two counts of uttering threats. Additional charges include possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offense, and common nuisance causing injury.
