Winnipeg Sea Bears Release Guard Armani Chaney

The Winnipeg Sea Bears have parted ways with guard Armani Chaney as their training camp gets underway. The team announced the move on Tuesday, just ahead of a crucial first-place showdown on Thursday.

Chaney, 29, played in all 10 games for the Sea Bears this season. Although he started only one game, he was fourth on the club in scoring with an average of 9.2 points per game. He also ranked second on the team in assists, tallying 43.

The Sea Bears are currently deep at the guard position. Chaney's departure creates an opening for the highly anticipated return of former NBA player Xavier Moon. Moon, a three-time CEBL Player of the Year, was signed by Winnipeg in December and is expected to join the team after concluding his season overseas.

Winnipeg currently sits just one game behind the top spot in the Western Conference. They are set to host the conference-leading Vancouver Bandits on Thursday at the Canada Life Centre in a game that could significantly impact the standings.
