Wolfsburg advances in Champions League qualifying with 2-0 win over Inter Milan

VfL Wolfsburg has positioned itself favorably for another Champions League campaign after securing a 2-0 victory over Inter Milan in their qualifying first leg. The German club, a two-time winner of the competition, demonstrated its prowess at home.

Lara Prasnikar opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, capitalizing on a well-executed attack. The momentum shifted further in Wolfsburg's favor shortly after halftime when Inter's Chiara Robustellini was shown a red card for pulling an opponent's hair in the 49th minute. This numerical advantage allowed Wolfsburg to extend their lead.

Camilla Küver headed in a corner kick just three minutes later, doubling the advantage. Wolfsburg continued to dominate, with Küver even hitting the crossbar from 30 yards out in the 75th minute. Despite creating further chances, they could not add a third goal.

The "Wölfinnen" have a strong history in the Champions League, having won the title in 2013 and 2014, and reaching the final in 2020. The second leg against Inter Milan will take place in Italy on September 2.
