The woman had been formally charged with animal mistreatment on April 16, 2026, following the circulation of the video recorded earlier that year. The charge specifically relates to "attending against the life and integrity of a sentient being."

During a recent hearing on June 12, 2026, the judge deemed it appropriate to grant the conditional suspension. This legal mechanism allows for the temporary halting of criminal proceedings, provided the accused fulfills specific obligations set by the judicial authority within a defined period. These obligations include compensating for the damage caused, specifically covering the veterinary expenses for the rescued cat's care, and performing volunteer work focused on animal welfare. The animal welfare organization "Gaticos de León A.C." confirmed these details, noting that compliance will be supervised by the relevant authorities. Failure to meet these conditions could result in the revocation of the suspension and the continuation of the criminal process.
