Woman beggar detained in Jordan with huge cash haul of $46,600

Authorities in Jordan have detained a female beggar in downtown Amman who was found in possession of a substantial sum of cash, totaling around $46,600. The discovery was made by teams from the Ministry of Social Development in coordination with the Public Security Directorate. Officials stated that the woman had accumulated the money through her begging activities and had converted her earnings into foreign currency. She has since been handed over to judicial authorities for further legal proceedings. Investigations revealed she had a history of begging. The Ministry took the opportunity to advise the public against giving money directly to individuals soliciting alms. Instead, they recommended channeling aid and donations through officially authorized and certified charities. The ministry noted that some beggars may feign illness or financial hardship to elicit sympathy, and they encouraged public reporting of suspicious activities.
