Woman charged with murder of Chaguanas businessman

A 25-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of Chaguanas businessman Gregory Reece, who was fatally stabbed in an apartment late last month.

Aaliyah Naipal, of Woodford Gardens, appeared before a High Court Master on Monday following legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. She was remanded into prison custody for the capital offense, which occurred on June 28.

Investigators reported that Reece went to the apartment and became involved in an argument, during which he was stabbed. Emergency Health Services personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. Naipal was detained by police at the location while inquiries were conducted.

Gregory Reece was laid to rest last Sunday. He had previously faced charges in 2017 related to uttering forged valuable securities and obtaining money by false pretenses, stemming from allegations involving fraudulent cheques totaling over $1.4 million.
