Woman dies in car and lorry crash in Co Cork

A woman in her 50s has died following a collision between a car and a lorry in Co Cork. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen, between Bandon and Dunmanway. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem examination.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 50s, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The road remained closed on Sunday evening as gardaí conducted a forensic examination. Local diversions were in place.
