Woman dies in tiger attack in Madhya Pradesh village in India

A woman sleeping in her hut in India's central Madhya Pradesh state has died following a severe tiger attack. The incident occurred in Parrapur Baigatola village, located within the Khapa range of Kanha National Park.

The victim, identified by Forest Department officials as Sugni Bai Dhurve, was asleep around 1:30 a.m. on August 2 when the tiger allegedly entered the village. According to Ashish Pandey, assistant director of the Sijhora Buffer Zone, the animal grabbed her by the head and dragged her away.

Villagers, alerted by the family's cries, rushed to the location with torches. They witnessed the tiger dragging the woman approximately 300 meters before abandoning her and retreating into the forest. Dhurve sustained critical head injuries and was transported to Baihar Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police have recovered the body and registered a case of accidental death. Forest Department officials have requested a detailed report on the incident. The victim's family is set to receive financial assistance in accordance with government regulations.
