Woman dies, man critically injured in La Plata house fire

A devastating house fire in La Plata, Argentina, resulted in the death of one woman and severe burns for a man who remains in critical condition.

The blaze broke out Sunday in a home located on Calle 2, between Calles 71 and 72, in the southern part of the city. Emergency services were alerted by a 911 call reporting flames and thick smoke emanating from the property.

Firefighters rescued 55-year-old David Massuchesi, who sustained serious burns across his body. He was treated by medical personnel from the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) and transported to San Martín Hospital. His condition is critical due to the severity of his injuries.

After extinguishing the fire, rescuers discovered the body of an unidentified woman inside the residence. Authorities are working to officially identify the victim and notify her family. Investigators are examining the scene to determine the origin of the fire, with all possibilities, including accidental causes, remaining open.
