Woman found dead in Nuevo León hotel hours after man falls from 15th floor

Authorities in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman found at the Hotel Safi Metropolitan on Sunday, August 16. The woman, identified as Yoatzi Lizbeth Juárez Cabrera, 25-30, from Guanajuato, was discovered dead in room 803 with apparent signs of violence, including bruises, neck marks, and a leg wound.

Her death followed just hours after a man, preliminarily identified as Roberto Eduardo Caballero Reyes, approximately 45, from Nuevo Laredo, died after falling from the 15th floor of the hotel's Metropolitan Center complex. The report of his fall came in around 8:30 a.m. Emergency services confirmed he had no vital signs upon arrival.

According to a police source, witnesses saw Caballero Reyes walking agitatedly with bloodstained clothing shortly before his fall. Hotel security attempted to approach him, but he ran towards a terrace on the 15th floor and jumped. During a subsequent search of the hotel, Juárez Cabrera was found deceased.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Caballero Reyes and Juárez Cabrera checked into the hotel on the preceding Friday and were assigned the same room. Forensic examination of the man's body revealed injuries to both wrists, which authorities are considering as consistent with a suicide hypothesis, alongside the trauma from the fall. The Fiscalía General de Justicia de Nuevo León has launched a full investigation into the events within the hotel room and the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
