Woman Found Stabbed to Death in French Tourist Rental; Homicide Probe Launched

An investigation into voluntary homicide is underway after a woman was discovered dead from multiple stab wounds in a short-term rental property in Béthune, Pas-de-Calais. The victim's identity has not yet been confirmed, according to Béthune prosecutor Étienne Thieffry. A forensic doctor's examination revealed several stab wounds on the body. The property owner found the victim late Monday morning after being alerted by a friend who could not reach her. The investigation has been assigned to the interdepartmental judicial police service of Pas-de-Calais. No arrests have been made at this stage, and an autopsy is scheduled. Local media reports suggest the rental property may have been used for prostitution for several years, with previous violence possibly reported there. "This is part of the checks and ongoing investigations," Thieffry stated regarding these claims. Authorities are exploring all avenues as they piece together the events leading to the woman's death.
