Woman killed while asleep with baby ‘was my world’, sister tells BBC

A 24-year-old mother, Kirandeep Kaur, was killed in her west London home as she slept with her husband and infant. Kaur, originally from India, was fatally attacked in Hayes, west London, on Sunday. Her sister, Gursharan, speaking from Punjab, India, described Kaur as "my world" and "everything for me." "She is everything for me, she video calls me and my mum. What are we going to do without her?" Gursharan said through a translator. Kaur had moved to the UK in September 2024 to study at Buckinghamshire New University, subsequently working at a grocery store. Her sister remembered her as "very intelligent" and a "hard worker" who always prioritized her family's needs. "Our family is very poor. She always thinks about us first. She was very supportive to me. She was my world. My heart hurts," Gursharan added. A man has been charged with Kaur's murder. The family, who live in Tarn Taran, Punjab, are devastated and have little information about the incident. They are seeking to have Kaur's body returned to India for a funeral in their village. Vigils have been held for Kaur by the Sikh community in London.
