Woman kills husband, attempts to kill son in Dharwad, arrested

A doctor in Dharwad, Karnataka, has been arrested after allegedly murdering her husband and attempting to kill their eight-year-old son. The 40-year-old ophthalmologist also reportedly tried to commit suicide by injecting herself with insulin after police arrived at the scene.

The incident came to light when relatives, unable to reach the husband, an anesthesiologist, became suspicious after his wife repeatedly claimed he was "resting" or had "stepped out." When relatives visited the apartment, they discovered the doctor lying on a bed covered in blood and their injured son inside the house.

Police have booked the wife, Priyanka, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita based on a complaint filed by the husband's sister. While relatives allege Priyanka's involvement, police have not confirmed her role and are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the crime.
