Woman's death in Berlin park: Trial begins for 46-year-old suspect

The trial of a 46-year-old man accused of fatally attacking a 40-year-old woman in a Berlin park commenced today at the Regional Court of Berlin. The prosecution has charged the man with manslaughter, alleging he used "blunt force" against the woman's head, causing injuries that proved fatal at the scene.

The incident occurred on February 9th of this year, shortly before midnight, in the Alt-Hohenschönhausen district. According to investigators, the victim suffered multiple facial fractures and a severe head injury. Despite the serious nature of the charges and the ongoing legal proceedings, a clear motive for the alleged crime has not yet been established.

Both the victim and the accused are reported to hold Ukrainian citizenship. The court has scheduled 14 hearing dates for the trial, which is expected to continue until September 30th.
