Woman Severely Wounded in Knife Attack in Front of Her Three Daughters in La Vega

A shocking act of violence unfolded in Las Cabuyas, La Vega, when Nayely Altagracia Capellán, 25, was brutally attacked with a knife in the early hours of Friday. The incident was particularly harrowing as her three young daughters, aged 10, 7, and 4, witnessed the assault.

Capellán sustained multiple stab wounds to her face, chest, arms, and legs, losing a significant amount of blood. She was rushed to the Dr. Luis Morillo King Regional Hospital, where medical staff began treatment around 2:40 a.m. By Friday morning, she was reported to be stable and out of immediate danger, though she remains under medical observation and is unable to speak due to her injuries.

Her mother, Rosa María Capellán, recounted the terrifying moments after being alerted by neighbors. She described her daughter's condition as stable but acknowledged the emotional toll of the attack. "She is stable as much as possible. She is a little encouraged because it is not easy. They gave her many stab wounds. Right now, she is sleeping. She cannot speak at the moment, but she is out of danger, thank God," Rosa María stated.

The family revealed that Capellán had been separated from the alleged assailant, Adonis de Jesús Caraballo Cárdenas, 26, for some time. They had rented a separate home for her and her children to ensure her safety. According to her mother, Capellán had previously received threats, and the family had sought a restraining order, which was reportedly never executed.

Adonis de Jesús Caraballo Cárdenas was later arrested by the National Police after he voluntarily appeared at a police station. He confessed to having left his ex-partner severely injured. Police seized two knives as part of their investigation, one of which showed apparent bloodstains.
