Women’s Asia Cup: Pakistan collapse from 27 without loss to 55 all out against India

Pakistan’s innings against India unraveled dramatically at the Dubai International Stadium. After reaching 27 without loss in the fifth over, Pakistan were bowled out for 55 in the 19th, losing all 10 wickets for 28 runs.

The collapse began when opener Muneeba Ali, who made 13, and number three Gull Feroza were dismissed within five balls. Four balls later, Shawal Zulfiqar fell for 14, and Pakistan’s innings quickly deteriorated as Indian fans waiting outside the stadium celebrated each wicket.

India’s spinners exploited the slow surface with tight lines and sharp turn. Slow left-armer Shree Charani finished with three for seven from four overs, while leg-spinner Prema Rawat took three for nine. Pakistan’s shot selection also contributed, with attempts to hit against the turn leading to further dismissals.

The result came after Pakistan had shown batting concerns in their opening match against Thailand, when Muneeba’s 54 from 52 balls helped them reach 119 for nine. Pakistan won that match by 35 runs, but against seven-time champions India they slumped to their lowest Women’s T20 international total. Their previous lowest was 56 all out against New Zealand at the same stadium during the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup.
