Women’s Labor and Solidarity Festival Begins in Çankaya

Çankaya’s Women’s Labor Festival begins tomorrow at Ahlatlıbel Atatürk Park, bringing together women’s work, production and solidarity over two days. Organized by Çankaya Municipality, the festival will host 25 tents and 125 women producers, who will sell handmade goods directly to visitors.

Women’s cooperatives and organizations working with women will also take part. UN Women, the Zeytin Dalı Women’s Cooperative and the Çankaya Women’s Counseling Center will present their work and services to participants.

The program will include music, dancing, children’s activities and wooden games. One featured event, the “One Hope, One Bracelet Solidarity Workshop,” will produce marteniçka bracelets for shipment to the earthquake-affected region.

The municipality says the festival is intended to strengthen women’s economic and social participation, support women entrepreneurs, reinforce local production and expand solidarity among women. Free shuttle buses will run from the Çankaya Municipality building at 2 p.m. on both days, with return services leaving the Ahlatlıbel Atatürk Park car park at 9 p.m.
