Worker Critically Injured in Entrapment Accident at OurHome Plant; Second Such Incident in 14 Months

A subcontracted worker at food company OurHome's Yongin plant has been hospitalized in critical condition following a severe entrapment accident. The 54-year-old employee, identified by the surname Hwang, was working on the 4th floor of the OurHome Yongin 2 plant when their neck became caught in a conveyor belt during an fish cake skewer packaging operation.

Rescued in cardiac arrest, the worker was transported to Osan Korean Hospital. Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, suspecting that the worker's hood may have been caught by the conveyor belt. Authorities are also examining whether the workplace implemented adequate safety measures to prevent such incidents.

This is the second serious entrapment accident at the Yongin 2 plant within a little over a year. In April of the previous year, a 30-year-old worker died after becoming trapped in machinery at the same facility. The recurrence of similar accidents raises serious concerns about safety protocols at OurHome's Yongin operations.
