Worker Dies After Scaffolding Collapses at Jurong Port Construction Site

A construction worker has died following a scaffolding collapse at a Jurong Port construction site in Singapore. The incident occurred on Monday morning when scaffolding fell onto a lorry, trapping the driver.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to a call for assistance at the Jurong Port Road site at 9:50 a.m. Upon arrival, rescuers found a person trapped in the driver's seat of the lorry. Using hydraulic rescue equipment, SCDF personnel, along with construction site employees, managed to remove the scaffolding from the vehicle's roof and free the individual.

Despite the rescue efforts, the worker was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic. Jurong Port confirmed the deceased was a worker at its Integrated Construction and Prefabrication Hub and identified the main contractor as HPC Builders.
