Workplace fatality in Hatay: Former mukhtar dies after accident

A tragic industrial accident has claimed the life of Abdullah Algur, a former mukhtar from Silopi, who died from severe burns sustained three days prior in Hatay's İskenderun district.

The incident occurred when Algur was inspecting the fuel cap of a tanker at a loading site. A sudden spark ignited the gasoline fumes, engulfing him in flames and causing extensive injuries. He was initially treated at a local hospital before being transferred to a specialized facility in Şanlıurfa for intensive care.

Algur, who had served as mukhtar in Silopi for many years and was cherished by the community, battled for his life for several days before succumbing to his injuries. His passing has deeply saddened his family, relatives, and the entire Silopi community.

Following the news of his death, many people gathered at the hospital and condolence homes. Social media has been flooded with messages of sympathy. Algur's body is being prepared for transport back to his hometown of Silopi for a funeral ceremony, expected to be attended by a large number of mourners.
