World champion faces serious charges: Found guilty of child sexual abuse

Professional snooker player Graeme Dott, nicknamed 'The Pocket Dynamo,' has been found guilty of sexually abusing children. The offenses occurred during two periods: from 1993 to 1996 and again between 2006 and 2010. Both victims were primary school students at the time of the abuse.

During his trial at the High Court in Glasgow, Dott vehemently denied all accusations, describing them as 'disgusting.' One female victim, now in her forties, testified about incidents where Dott allegedly touched her over her clothing and later removed her trousers and kissed her stomach. The abuse reportedly took place in the Glasgow area.

The verdict marks a significant stain on Dott's career. He turned professional in 1994 at the age of 17, rising through the ranks after a successful amateur career. His professional journey included reaching quarter-finals and finals, though he experienced several painful defeats, including to John Higgins and Stephen Hendry.

Despite early setbacks, Dott showed remarkable persistence. He entered the top 16 players in the world in 2001. A turning point in his career came in 2004 when he reached his first World Championship final against Ronnie O'Sullivan. Although he lost the match, the experience was positive, and he secured a substantial prize.

It remains to be seen if Dott will appeal the decision. The conviction casts a shadow over his previously notable career in the sport.
