World Cup 2026 | Manuel Arias tells Panama's national team: "You carry the hopes of four and a half million people"

The Panamanian national football team has embarked on its journey to the United States, marking the final stage of preparation for the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup. The team departed from Tocumen International Airport amidst an atmosphere charged with optimism and national pride.

During a farewell ceremony, Manuel Arias, president of the Panamanian Football Federation, addressed the team and the nation's supporters. "Thanks to the Panamanian people who have supported this selection, and to all the players and technical staff who carry in their feet, in their soul, and in their heart the hopes of four and a half million people," Arias declared. He also expressed gratitude to Tocumen S.A. for their reception and Copa Airlines for their long-standing support of the federation, which spans over 25 years.

This marks Panama's second historical appearance in the FIFA World Cup. The team's initial destination is San Luis, USA, where they will play a friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 6. Following this warm-up game, the squad will travel to Canada to establish their base camp and focus on tactical preparations before their World Cup debut on June 17 against Ghana.
