FIFA is set to combine the thrill of football with patriotic fervor as the United States prepares to celebrate its Independence Day and its 250th anniversary. Elaborate pre-match ceremonies are planned for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 fixtures scheduled in Houston and Philadelphia.

These two host cities will stage specially curated events designed to showcase American history, culture, and entertainment. The celebrations aim to offer fans a unique Fourth of July experience on the world's biggest football stage. In Houston, the stadium will be adorned in a red, white, and blue theme, featuring a giant pitch banner and a performance of the American national anthem by US Navy Band Chief Musician Maia Rodriguez. This display is expected to set a significant tone for the occasion.

Philadelphia, the historic birthplace of the Declaration of Independence, will present an entertainment lineup reflecting its rich heritage. Tony Award-winning singer and actress Idina Menzel will perform the national anthem, while Grammy Award-winning hip-hop group The Roots, founded in the city, will headline the musical entertainment. The festivities will also include performances by the Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale, appearances by Miss Pennsylvania Stephanie Skinner, and a stadium-wide tifo card display.

The ceremony is expected to set the tone for one of the most significant sporting occasions to coincide with the country’s annual Independence Day celebrations.

Adding to the spectacle, fighter jets from Naval Air Station Oceana will conduct a ceremonial flypast over the Philadelphia stadium. Fans can also anticipate a halftime performance by Grammy Award-winning DJ Jazzy Jeff. Both stadiums will feature pyrotechnic displays and specially themed giant-screen presentations. FIFA is urging supporters to arrive well before kick-off to fully immerse themselves in the festivities, with player warm-ups beginning approximately 65 minutes before each match and official celebrations starting around 25 minutes prior.
