World Nomad Games 2026 Secretariat releases video series on sports program

The International Secretariat for the 2026 World Nomad Games (WNG) has unveiled a promotional video series, "Heritage in Motion," showcasing the traditional sports that will feature in the upcoming event. This three-part series, comprising segments titled "Precision," "Speed," and "Strength," aims to introduce audiences to the rich cultural heritage of nomadic peoples through modern visual storytelling.

The "Precision" video delves into sports such as ordo and salbuurun, emphasizing the deep connection between these traditional games, marksmanship, and strategic thinking, rooted in centuries-old nomadic traditions. "Speed" focuses on exhilarating equestrian disciplines and competitive events like tyiyn enmei, kok boru, horse racing, and er enish, highlighting the dynamism and agility inherent in nomadic culture.

Rounding out the series, "Strength" spotlights traditional wrestling and robust competitions, including mas-wrestling, tug of war, and strongman events. The creators underscore that physical prowess in nomadic cultures has always been intertwined with profound respect for opponents, resilience, and strength of character. The "Heritage in Motion" project seeks to bridge ancient traditions with contemporary audiences, presenting the cultural legacy of nomadic civilizations in an engaging format.

The 6th World Nomad Games are scheduled to take place in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, 2026. Bishkek will host the opening and closing ceremonies, while the main competitions will unfold in Cholpon-Ata. The event anticipates a significant global turnout, with approximately 3,000 athletes from 113 countries expected to compete across a wide array of traditional sports disciplines.
