Rony Dawson, celebrated in South Korea for his lively personality in the KBO League, has taken on a different image in Taiwan after an on-field collision involving a ball boy.

The Rakuten Monkeys outfielder attracted attention when a batted ball from Uni-President Lions player Chen Sheng-ping came near the outfield foul line on June 29. The incident led to a collision with the ball boy during the play.

Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported that Dawson responded with a warm appeal about the episode. The former KBO League entertainer reportedly asked people not to condemn those involved and instead to show forgiveness.

The episode has helped Dawson win over CPBL fans, who have begun to see him not only as an energetic baseball personality but also as a figure associated with compassion.
