Xavier Jordán reappears in video from World Cup final amid extradition request

Xavier Jordán, a central figure in the investigation into the assassination of Ecuadorian presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio, has been captured on video attending the 2026 World Cup final in New Jersey. This sighting occurs while Ecuador is pursuing his extradition for his alleged involvement in the murder case, known as 'Magnicidio FV.'

The video shows Jordán, wearing a Spain jersey, interacting briefly with a reporter before the match. He commented on Spain's victory, stating, "Champion, champion Spain, with two goals. If they win, I'm going to celebrate at my house." The footage was shared on social media by the Politics Ec account.

This is not Jordán's first appearance during the World Cup. He was previously seen in a viral video on July 11, entering a stadium in Miami for a quarter-final match. That appearance, while he was reportedly with actor Danilo Carrera and his brother Felipe, led to widespread speculation and questions directed at the Carreras. HUB Management, the agency representing the actors, issued a statement clarifying that their presence was coincidental and they were guests of a sponsoring brand, asserting no relationship with Jordán.

Beyond the Villavicencio assassination case, where Jordán is accused of intellectual participation in the 2023 crime, he faces separate judicial proceedings in the 'Metastasis' case. In this investigation, he is implicated in organized crime, allegedly as a partner of alleged drug trafficker Leandro Norero and connected to transnational criminal organizations. Also implicated in the 'Metastasis' case are former Interior Minister José Serrano and alleged leaders of the Los Lobos criminal group.
