Xi Jinping inspects Shanghai, emphasizes urban renewal and flood prevention

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Shanghai on Tuesday, inspecting a residential village, a community service center, and the homes of retired residents. He was accompanied by top officials, including Cai Qi, director of the Central Office of the Communist Party of China.

During his visit, Xi stressed the importance of high-quality urban renewal as a key aspect of modernizing cities. He called for a "people-centered" approach, emphasizing that urban renewal efforts should be guided by residents' needs and ultimately enhance their sense of gain, happiness, and security. He also highlighted the role of communities as fundamental units of urban governance, advocating for improved governance standards and the delegation of resources and services to the grassroots level.

Xi further called for strengthening Party leadership in communities. He encouraged exploring new models for collaboration between community Party organizations, residents' committees, owners' committees, and property management companies. The goal is to build "complete communities" and convenient living circles that serve residents' needs.
