Xindian Wulai Chuan Friendship Association Established; 46-Year Comrade Appears to Support Lee Chuan-chiang

Lee Chuan-chiang, the Kuomintang's candidate for New Taipei mayor, garnered significant local support at the inauguration of the Xindian Wulai Chuan Friendship Association. The event drew over 500 residents and more than 50 local village chiefs, underscoring a strong grassroots backing for his campaign. A particularly touching moment occurred when Wang Wei-yong, Lee's squad leader from 46 years ago during their military service, made a surprise appearance to offer his endorsement.

Reflecting on his past contributions, Lee Chuan-chiang mentioned his role in promoting the "Ankeng Road No. 1," a crucial access road for the Ankeng area, which has since been completed and significantly improved local traffic. Looking ahead, he vowed to continue enhancing development in the Greater Xindian region. His plans include expanding the Xindian Baogao Smart Park to foster AI software, information and communication technology, and digital application development.

Lee also outlined a vision to create a "dual-city AI technology industry belt" stretching from Taipei to New Taipei. This would involve constructing the Lusshe Bridge to connect with expressways and high-speed rail, linking major tech hubs like Nangang, Neihu, and the Taipei Nangang Software Park, and extending to Tucheng, Banqiao, and Xindian. This initiative aims to attract more high-tech industries, talent, and job opportunities to New Taipei City. For the Wulai area specifically, Lee addressed ongoing issues such as parking and water supply, and presented four key policies for indigenous residents, including accelerating the construction of dedicated social housing, enhancing rental and housing support, establishing a New Taipei Indigenous Cultural Park, and creating an indigenous youth group and entrepreneurship base.
