Yamaha's Aerox scooter to enter Japanese market in August with aggressive styling and advanced features

Yamaha is set to launch its Aerox scooter in the Japanese market on August 31, 2026, marking a significant expansion for the model previously focused on Southeast Asia. Priced at 481,800 yen (approximately 95,000 Taiwan dollars), Yamaha anticipates selling 1,400 units annually in Japan.

The Aerox will feature a sharp, aggressive design, appealing to younger demographics with its sporty lines. Under the hood, it boasts a 155cc Blue Core VVA single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, producing 15.4 horsepower and 1.4 kg-m of torque. This is paired with an electric-assist CVT system, Y-ECVT, offering three-stage gear control and selectable Sport/Touring riding modes.

Further enhancing the riding experience is the Y-Shift function, operated by a button below the left handlebar. This system allows for rapid acceleration in three stages (low, medium, high), beneficial for overtaking, climbing hills, or riding with a passenger, similar to electric boost systems found on flagship models from SYM and Kymco.

The scooter is equipped with a robust set of features, including front ABS, traction control (TCS), an emergency brake warning light (ESS), a smart key system, and an idle stop function. It also includes 30mm inverted front forks, rear disc brakes, a USB-C charging port, and a TFT instrument panel, all contributing to its premium appeal.
