Yang Hyun-jun Scores in Consecutive Games Before Asian Games as Celtic Start With Five Straight Wins

Yang Hyun-jun scored for the second straight game as Celtic beat St Mirren 2-1 away on September 6 in the sixth round of the 2026-27 Scottish Premiership.

The South Korean forward struck in the 23rd minute of the second half, when the score was tied 1-1. He raced into space behind the defense during a counterattack, collected a pass from Camilo Durán and finished with his right foot from the center of the goal area.

Yang had scored his first goal of the season against Aberdeen in the previous round. His latest goal gave Celtic a fifth consecutive league win since the start of the season and kept the club in first place. St Mirren remained second with three wins, one draw and one loss.

Yang, 24, has been selected as a wild-card attacking player for South Korea’s Asian Games team, coached by Lee Min-sung. South Korea will face Qatar on September 15 and Saudi Arabia on September 22 in Group D, which also includes those three teams. The top two teams advance to the quarterfinals, making the form of European-based forwards important to South Korea’s hopes of winning the tournament.
