Yankees Crushed 10-1 by MLB-Worst Angels After Three Errors

The Los Angeles Angels, tied for the worst record in Major League Baseball before the game, overwhelmed the New York Yankees 10-1 and ended a seven-game losing streak. The defeat also stopped New York’s two-game winning run.

Yankees pitching prospect Elmer Rodríguez held the Angels scoreless through two innings, but allowed a run on a Vaughn Grissom single in the third. In the fourth, Rodríguez hit two batters with two outs before Zach Neto and Mike Trout followed with consecutive hits. He left after allowing four runs in 3.2 innings, with five strikeouts, three walks and two hit batters.

New York’s defense added to the problems. Michael Fulmer made a throwing error while trying to pick off a runner at second base, and shortstop José Caballero committed two errors in the sixth inning. The Angels scored another run on those mistakes. David Bednar then allowed three runs on four hits in the eighth.

The Yankees managed six hits and scored their only run on Spencer Jones’ solo home run. Walbert Ureña held New York to one run over seven innings to earn his ninth win. Before the game, the Angels stood at 52-85, tied with the Colorado Rockies for the worst record in the majors.
