Yao Yuan-hao turns into a ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ chef as Ghost faces relentless scrutiny

A holiday in Palau quickly turned into a high-pressure kitchen assignment for the cast of the Taiwanese variety show “Hi!营业中.” After exploring local attractions, the group learned that the Queen of Palau had chosen them to prepare a private meal.

The cast first visited Shark City, where they watched sharks swim through the water and discovered giant clams. Kuo Hung-chih returned one clam to the sea, and the group later saw another measuring more than 100 centimeters. They also covered Kuo in local volcanic mud, with Wu Ying-jie and Sa-Sha stepping onto his back to help massage him. When Sa-Sha questioned why they were serving him, Yao joked that Kuo was “Taiwan’s pride.”

The group then visited a waterfall and a local market, where they explored regional ingredients. The task board at the market revealed the Queen’s request, sending everyone into the kitchen to prepare the meal with Yao in charge.

Yao immediately set a strict standard. When he saw Ghost cutting cucumbers into uneven pieces, he repeatedly told her to make the sizes more consistent. “Once I teach you this, just follow along,” he said. Ghost answered that she understood, but the repeated reminders left Sa-Sha and Kuo sensing an increasingly awkward atmosphere.

Yao later inspected Wu and Hailey’s ingredients and accused them of wasting food while cutting cucumbers. Wu defended Hailey, insisting that she had not wasted anything. “She has eyes. You have to trust her!” Wu told Yao. Their exchange filled the kitchen with tension and made the scene resemble “Hell’s Kitchen.” Yao eventually walked away, saying, “I really don’t know how to talk to you.”
