Yaoundé Central Hospital Launches Roadmap for Quality Healthcare Transformation

The Central Hospital of Yaoundé (HCY) has unveiled its institutional magazine, 'Bulletin Santé Messa,' marking a significant step in its strategic transformation. The second edition of the magazine serves as a communication tool for the hospital's ambitious 2025-2027 Establishment Project, which aims to elevate HCY into a "showcase hospital for accessible quality healthcare" and strengthen Cameroon's national health system resilience.

This initiative reflects a commitment to transparency and accountability. The 'Bulletin Santé Messa' is designed not just to inform but also to serve as a platform for pedagogical outreach and fostering cohesion. It will report on the hospital's ongoing projects, explain its strategic decisions, highlight staff expertise, and open discussions on critical public health issues, promoting the replication of best practices across other health facilities.

The core of this transformation lies in the 2025-2027 Establishment Project, developed collaboratively and approved by the management committee and the Minister of Public Health. This roadmap focuses on seven key strategies. Priority is given to optimizing governance, re-energizing staff, and rebuilding trust with patients. Simultaneously, the project targets the modernization of infrastructure, equipment, and medical practices to ensure a holistic and humane approach to patient care.

Embracing the motto "Service – Quality – Probité" (Service, Quality, Integrity), HCY aims to solidify its status as a "university hospital institution of excellence and humanity." This reform aligns with the Ministry of Public Health's broader objectives and contributes to Cameroon's national development vision for 2035, emphasizing patient-centered care, continuous improvement, and ethical, transparent operations.
