Yellow alert issued for rain and storms across five Argentine provinces

Argentina's National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms across several provinces on Monday, June 8. This alert signifies meteorological phenomena with the potential to cause damage and temporarily disrupt daily life.

The warning affects parts of Buenos Aires city and province, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, and Formosa. In these regions, persistent rainfall is expected, with accumulated precipitation potentially reaching 30 to 70 millimeters, and possibly exceeding these amounts in localized areas. The SMN advises residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, keep drains clear, and stay away from flood-prone zones. They also recommend cutting off electricity if water enters homes.

For Formosa province, the yellow alert specifically warns of thunderstorms of varying intensity, some potentially strong. These storms may bring heavy rain, frequent lightning, occasional hail, and strong gusts. Similar precautions are advised, including securing outdoor objects and seeking shelter indoors or in vehicles if caught outside.

The forecast for Buenos Aires city indicates a day of precipitation, with temperatures ranging between 12°C and 15°C. Heavy rain is expected in the morning and early afternoon, tapering to isolated showers and drizzle later. No rain is forecast for Tuesday.
