YENİ Party MP Bulut Fires Back at CHP's Tekin: 'Became Rich from Real Estate'

A public spat has erupted between Burhanettin Bulut, a Member of Parliament for the YENİ Party, and Gürsel Tekin, an official from the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). The exchange began after Tekin was appointed as a trustee to the CHP's Istanbul provincial directorate.

Bulut launched a scathing personal attack on Tekin, accusing him of amassing wealth through real estate dealings and even failing to pay rent on a property in Bodrum. Bulut questioned Tekin's past political career, referencing accusations from a "palace judiciary" and suggesting Tekin was the second most "criminal" figure in the CHP's history. He also reminded Tekin of being removed from a party list during a delegate election.

Tekin retaliated, questioning Bulut's own legitimacy and accusing him of corruption. "You can't be 'new' if you don't account for yourself," Tekin stated, directly challenging Bulut over alleged financial dealings. Tekin had previously accused Bulut, along with another CHP figure, of being "bought" to manage financial and media affairs for certain interests. The public dispute highlights deep divisions and personal animosities within Turkey's political landscape.
