Yilan Candidate Lin Kuo-chang Pledges Dual Agricultural Protection After Typhoon

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Yilan County magistrate candidate Lin Kuo-chang relaunched his campaign tour, starting in Yuanshan Township, an area known for its water resources, following the departure of Typhoon Bawei. Accompanied by Legislator Chen Chun-yu and other candidates, Lin engaged in local campaigning and visited a dragon fruit farm.

During his visit, Lin pledged to introduce a dual agricultural protection system that combines insurance and post-disaster subsidies. He emphasized that farmers should not face extreme weather events alone. "Facing extreme weather, farmers should no longer fight alone. In the future, the county government will strongly promote a dual protection system of agricultural insurance and post-disaster subsidies, ensuring that farmers can 'see it, receive it, and be protected' when facing natural disasters, completely escaping the past predicament of relying solely on the weather," Lin stated.

Lin praised the quality of the dragon fruit grown by local farmers and committed to establishing a comprehensive cold chain and logistics system. His plan aims to support the development of high-value agriculture, not only to promote Yilan's produce across Taiwan but also to actively connect with international markets, thereby stabilizing farmers' incomes.

Legislator Chen Chun-yu and Yuanshan Township mayoral candidate Li Hsiao-ting joined Lin's campaign. Chen pledged to collaborate with Lin on central and local government initiatives to secure more agricultural infrastructure funding for Yilan and assist farmers with marketing and disaster protection mechanisms. Li and other candidates, including county council candidate Li Tzu-ting and You Kuo-lien, also promised their full support for Lin's policies, vowing to act as a strong backing for farmers from disaster prevention construction and simplified relief procedures to agricultural product promotion.
