Caleb Yirenkyi's last-gasp goal secured a vital 1-0 win for Ghana against Panama in their U-20 Women's World Cup Group L match on Wednesday. The dramatic strike in the 95th minute significantly enhances Ghana's prospects of advancing to the knockout stage, a feat they have not achieved since 2010.

The decisive moment came after Thomas-Asante skillfully navigated past Panama defender Jose Cordoba, delivering a pass into the area. The 20-year-old Yirenkyi was on hand to bundle the ball home, sealing the victory for the African side.

Panama mounted a desperate late surge, sending players forward for a final free kick in a bid to snatch an equalizer. However, Ghana's defense held firm, successfully repelling the threat and securing the crucial three points.

Earlier in the match, Ghana's goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi made an excellent save in the second minute to deny Cecilio Waterman's curling strike. Zigi was later substituted at the start of the second half due to injury, with Benjamin Asare taking his place.
