Yobe emir dies in Egypt

Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, the Emir of Ngazargamu in Yobe State, has passed away in Cairo, Egypt, following a protracted illness. The traditional ruler died on Tuesday while receiving medical treatment abroad.

His son, Tijjani Bala, who manages the Yobe State Road Maintenance Agency, confirmed the monarch's death. In a statement, Bala expressed profound sorrow, remembering his father as a mentor and traditional ruler whose life was characterized by wisdom, humility, courage, and unwavering dedication to his people. He noted that the late emir's leadership and legacy would serve as an inspiration.

The Ngazargamu Emirate Council officially announced the passing of the revered leader, describing him as a custodian of the rich cultural heritage of the historic Ngazargamu Emirate. The council conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of the traditional ruler.

Arrangements are being made to repatriate the late emir's remains to Nigeria for funeral rites in Damaturu. The council has called for prayers for the repose of his soul and for strength for his family and the emirate's people to bear the loss.
