Yobe gov appoints new Emir of Ngazargamu

Yerima Ibn Mahmud has been appointed as the new Emir of Ngazargamu, with the approval of Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni. The announcement was made Friday by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Goje. This appointment follows the recent death of the former Emir, Alhaji Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who passed away in Egypt after a prolonged illness and was buried in Damaturu.

Ibn Mahmud brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as the Turakin Ngazargamu for 16 years. He also has a background in politics, having been a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly and serving as Commissioner for Livestock Development before his elevation to the throne.

I congratulate the new Emir of Ngazargamu and the entire people of the emirate on this appointment. I urge His Royal Highness to use his wealth of experience to unite the people, promote peace and peaceful coexistence, and encourage economic growth in the emirate, Yobe State and Nigeria at large.

Governor Buni congratulated the new monarch and the people of the Ngazargamu Emirate. He expressed his hope that the Emir would leverage his extensive experience to foster unity, peace, and economic growth within the emirate, Yobe State, and Nigeria as a whole. The governor also appealed to the residents to provide their full support to the new traditional ruler, ensuring he can effectively carry out his duties for the benefit of the community.
