Young man died after allergic reaction to meal at mental health facility

At about 6:45 p.m., 24-year-old Riley Brown sat down for dinner at a community mental health respite service.

He had been readmitted that morning. During an admission less than a week earlier, staff had recorded that he was allergic to peanuts.

A coroner said curry paste likely caused Brown’s fatal allergic reaction.
