Youth star Bellile sharpens up for World Championships

Makieve “The Sniper” Bellile will get one final test before the biggest international challenge of his young career. The 17-year-old Trinidad and Tobago boxer will meet Josiah “The Jigsaw” McEachnie in the co-main event of The One boxing card on September 18 at Jerry Junction Car Park in Carapichaima.

The fight is intended to sharpen Bellile’s skills and build momentum as he prepares to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal. The event is scheduled for October 31 to November 13.

Bellile recently made history as the first boxer from Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for the Summer Youth Olympic Games. He secured his place after an impressive run at the Under-19 World Boxing Futures Cup in Bangkok in March, opening with a 5-0 win over Reyjan Palen of the Philippines and then defeating Damar Robinson of the Cayman Islands 4-1 in the round of 32. A recurring hand injury forced him to withdraw from his next bout against Morocco’s Houssam Boucheta.

The card will be headlined by Umesh “The Warrior” Rampersad against Kel “The Gift” Sobers. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the first bell scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets cost $70 at the door.
