YouTuber sent to prosecutors over alleged defamation of actor Kim Soo-hyun

A YouTuber, formerly a comedian, has been transferred to prosecutors on charges of defaming actor Kim Soo-hyun. The YouTuber, Kwon Young-chan, is accused of making defamatory claims on his channel about Kim Soo-hyun's alleged relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor.

Kwon allegedly claimed on his YouTube channel that Kim Soo-hyun had a relationship with Kim Sae-ron during her minority and that they had engaged in sexual relations. These allegations led to Kim Soo-hyun's fans filing a complaint against Kwon and over 100 other netizens for defamation in April of last year.

Meanwhile, a separate case where Kim Sae-ron's family sued Kim Soo-hyun for alleged child welfare law violations has been dismissed by the police. Investigators reportedly determined that the voice recording presented as evidence for the relationship claim might have been manipulated. The Seoul Seongdong Police Station handled this case.
