YouTuber with 700,000 subscribers investigated for proxy prescription of sleeping pills

A prominent South Korean YouTuber and internet broadcaster, known online as Mr. Park, is currently under police investigation for allegedly obtaining sleeping pills through a proxy prescription. The 37-year-old personality, who boasts approximately 700,000 subscribers on YouTube and is active on other major broadcasting platforms, faces charges related to the violation of the Narcotics Control Act.

According to police reports, Mr. Park is suspected of receiving and consuming psychotropic medications, specifically sleeping pills, that were prescribed on behalf of another person. The investigation was initiated after the police received relevant reports on June 13th, leading to Mr. Park's formal indictment on August 27th.

Mr. Park began his career in internet broadcasting in 2012. His online presence has grown significantly over the years, establishing him as a notable figure in the South Korean digital content creation space. The investigation into his alleged actions raises questions about the conduct of public-facing online personalities and adherence to drug control laws.
