YPF’s Diesel 10 Minero targets mining’s energy challenges

How can mining operations more than 4,000 meters above sea level maintain availability, efficiency and uninterrupted operations in extreme temperatures? That question stood at the center of Argentina Mining Salta 2026, where YPF presented its response to the demands of a sector expected to become one of Argentina’s main export engines.

The company highlighted Diesel 10 Minero, a fuel developed specifically for mining operations and now commercially available in Argentina. It has ultra-low sulfur content, contains no biocomponents and was designed to deliver performance and reliability in high-altitude areas and low temperatures.

YPF describes the product as a response to a concrete industry need: fuels formulated for extreme conditions, where operational continuity is critical to project productivity. The company also presented it as an innovation intended to meet the mining sector’s new technological and environmental requirements.

Fuel, however, is only one part of YPF’s broader strategy. With more than 90% of the mining-fuel supply market, the company is combining specialized logistics, industry-specific products, energy solutions and technical assistance. In northern Argentina, a new integrated logistics base in San Antonio de los Cobres is intended to support mining growth in the Salta Puna. Located 4,000 meters above sea level, the complex includes a modular YPF service station, a fuel supply plant for mining operations and a logistics yard for loading, unloading and moving equipment and supplies.

The offering also includes YPF Luz, which supports mining projects from their earliest stages through electricity supply contracts, renewable energy, on-site generation and high-voltage line development. The company says its 3.8 GW of installed capacity and presence in eight provinces allow it to combine generation, sales and infrastructure development for mining operations.
