Yucatán Transportation Agency Director Resigns to Become Anti-Corruption Undersecretary

Jacinto Sosa Novelo has stepped down from his position as director of the Yucatán Transportation Agency (ATY). His resignation was submitted to the State Congress on Wednesday evening.

Sosa Novelo's departure comes as Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena has appointed him to a new role as the undersecretary for Anti-Corruption within the state government. This transition places Sosa Novelo in a key position to address issues of corruption in Yucatán.

During his tenure at the ATY, Sosa Novelo navigated significant challenges within the transportation service. Governor Díaz Mena characterized the state of the service as a "cursed inheritance," implying that the previous administration under Mauricio Vila Dosal left behind considerable financial difficulties and operational problems.

The State Congress, which is dominated by the Morena party, will now be responsible for appointing Sosa Novelo's successor to lead the ATY. The agency's future leadership will face the ongoing task of improving the transportation system and addressing its financial deficits.
