Zagreb concerts to celebrate the Dedić-Novak musical family on Sept. 9 and 10

Zagreb will turn Strossmayer Square into a free open-air stage on Sept. 9, 2026, for a concert celebrating Gabi Novak, Matija Dedić and Arsen Dedić. The event begins at 8 p.m. and will bring together about 60 artists, collaborators and friends of the family.

The program, organized by the City of Zagreb, follows the success of its first edition. It will feature well-known songs from Gabi Novak and Arsen Dedić, Arsen’s poetry and instrumental performances inspired by Matija Dedić’s virtuosity.

Darko Rundek, Jasna Zlokić, Zoran Predin, Matija Cvek, Jakov Jozinović, Lea Dekleva, Klapa More, Ivana Kindl, Tina Vukov, Marko Tolja, Eni Jurišić, Ivana Husar, the Zagreb Soloists and many others are scheduled to perform. The repertoire includes “Amigo,” “On me voli na svoj način,” “Tvoje nježne godine,” “Za mene je sreća,” “Vino i gitare,” “Ono sve što znaš o meni,” “Zagrli me,” “Ne daj se Ines” and “Zagreb i ja se volimo tajno.”

The celebration continues on Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. at the Komedija Theatre Club with “Jammin' for Matija,” an intimate jazz evening dedicated to Matija Dedić’s work and musical spirit. Artistic director Ante Gelo designed both programs, with the second event planned as an informal meeting of friends, collaborators and admirers performing among the audience rather than behind a conventional stage barrier.

Mayor Tomislav Tomašević said, “This is a program through which Zagreb preserves and celebrates the legacy of artists who marked generations.” He invited residents and visitors to attend the free concert and hear Croatian musicians perform the family’s songs.
