Zagreb District Proposes Renaming Bus Stops for Clarity, Including 'Sarajevska-rotor' to 'Zapruđe'

Zagreb's Novi Zagreb-istok city district council is proposing a series of name changes for several bus stops to improve clarity and better reflect their locations. The council believes current names are often confusing or inaccurate. For instance, the stop 'Sarajevska-rotor' is deemed unnecessarily complex and should be renamed 'Zapruđe,' as it serves the terminal of the same name and is the final stop for multiple bus lines.

The stop belongs to the zone of the stop, i.e., the 'Zapruđe' terminal and serves as the eponymous final stop for all associated bus lines.

Other proposed changes include renaming 'Sarajevska-Hrelić' to 'Kamenarka,' after a nearby neighborhood, because the current name is uninformative. The stop 'Sarajevska-Ukrajinska' would become simply 'Ukrajinska,' and 'Dječji vrtić' would be specified as 'Dječji vrtić Travno.' The stop at 'Božidara Magovca 111' is suggested to be renamed 'OŠ Gustava Krkleca' to reflect the nearby elementary school.

The existing name is unnecessarily uninformative, as the stop is located at the intersection with a side street by which it is standardly named.

The stop currently named 'Odra' is slated for a change to 'Buzin' due to its inaccurate location. This renaming also aims to align with the nearby suburban railway station 'Buzin,' emphasizing integrated transport. Additionally, the stop 'Gata 13' would be simplified to 'Gata,' as it is the only stop on that street and avoids naming conventions based on house numbers or private companies.

Renaming due to an incorrect name that does not correspond to the location of the stop. Also, the renaming adapts the name to the identically named suburban railway stop 'Buzin' located in the same stop zone to emphasize its function in integrated transport.

Finally, 'Sarajevska-Vatikanska' is proposed to be renamed 'Murati.' The council cited the overuse of 'Sarajevska' in stop names as a reason for reduction. The new name would follow the standard practice of naming stops after one of the intersecting streets for simplicity and memorability. This name would also be applied to future tram stops in the area. The council also noted that a 'Vatikanska' stop already exists elsewhere in the Dugave area.
