Zagreb Mayor lays wreaths at Mirogoj, vows to attend Knin commemoration

Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević led a delegation in laying wreaths at the Mirogoj Cemetery, paying tribute to Croatian defenders who perished in the Homeland War. The solemn ceremony included visits to the "Voice of the Croatian Victim - Wall of Pain," the Central Cross in the Alley of Fallen Croatian Defenders, and the "Cenotaph" monument. The event commemorated Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Defenders Day. "Every year we gather here at Mirogoj to primarily express gratitude and pay homage to all Croatian defenders in the Homeland War, and especially to the fallen and missing defenders who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the Republic of Croatia," Tomašević stated at the Wall of Pain. He also confirmed his participation in the main national celebration in Knin, a tradition he upholds annually. The delegation, accompanied by representatives of associations stemming from the Homeland War, laid wreaths at several significant memorial sites within the cemetery. The mayor's commitment to attending the Knin commemoration underscores the national importance of honoring the sacrifices made during the war for Croatia's independence.
