Zamfara appoints new head of service

Alhaji Shehu Baraya has become the new head of Zamfara State’s civil service after Governor Dauda Lawal approved his appointment.

The appointment takes immediate effect, Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Nakwada said in a statement issued on Wednesday. The statement was signed by Suleman Ahmad Tudu, senior special assistant for media in the secretary’s office.

Baraya succeeds Alhaji Yakubu Haidara, who recently retired from the state civil service. Before his appointment, Baraya served as permanent secretary at the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission and held the same rank in several ministries.

The state government described him as an experienced career civil servant with extensive institutional knowledge and a strong understanding of public administration. Lawal commended Haidara for his service and contributions to the civil service, and wished him well after retirement. He also directed Baraya to use his experience to deepen professionalism, reinforce discipline, raise productivity and improve efficiency across the service in line with the administration’s Rescue Agenda.
